We are thrilled to announce the joining of Martins Pereira, João Careca & Associados, based in Lisbon, Portugal, to the MGI Worldwide network.
Bordering Spain and the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is Europe’s most westerly country. Once known for its navigators and seafarers, the country is now known by many as a top tourist destination, however, the country also boasts a significant industry sector. The country is home to many notable leading companies with worldwide reputations, including Sonae Indústria, the largest producer of wood-based panels in the world and Amorim, the world leader in cork production – Portugal, in fact, produces half of the world’s cork.
Cars and automobile parts, textiles, processed petroleum oils, and footwear are other significant industries - and wine, of course!
Introducing the firm
Founded in 1989 by Manuel Martins Pereira, the firm is led by a team of three partners and six professional staff and has more than 30 years of experience in providing services to public and private entities, particularly in the following areas:

The firm has an impressive client list which includes the Porto University – one of the largest in the country, private schools, numerous hotels, shopping malls and more. The firm's main office is located in Lisbon with a second office in Almeirim, some 100km to the north of the capital.

João Careca
João has more than 35 years of experience in auditing, advisory and consulting with both public and private entities in Portugal, Brazil and Angola, with an emphasis on the construction and public works, education, real estate, hospitality and food production and preparation sectors.
Elsa Martins
For more than 15 years Elsa has specialised in audit and assurance, working with public and private entities with an emphasis on the public construction, education, hospitality and real estate sectors.
Alec Beerten
Alec also has over 15 years of experience in auditing, working with public and private entities with an emphasis on the shopping, hospitality and education sectors.Why join the MGI Worldwide network?
The firm previously collaborated with a CPAAI firm in São Paulo who assisted with one of their clients in the salt cod business and hopes that joining the MGI Worldwide network will bring many more opportunities to collaborate cross-border.
