Update from Australasia: Watch a recording of the Australasia Region report, as presented at the 2020 Virtual Global Meeting
For those who missed the live event, a recording is now available of the Australasia Region Report as presented during the recent 2020 Virtual Global Meeting by Regional Coordinator Casey Lightbody and IC Member Greg Winnett.
Casey begins her update by introducing the region which is represented by over 370 professionals working in 18 locations, and shared the encouraging news that all Australian member firms have fared well in terms of growth and profitability over the last 12 months, excelling despite this year's challenges.
Maximising opportunities
While in-person meetings couldn’t take place this year, as planned, it was important for the region to stay engaged and maintain contact among member firms. As a result, its regular quarterly meetings were rescheduled to be held every six weeks via Zoom. These proved highly beneficial to members as they shared experiences and advice in real time during this unprecedented year. Alongside this, regular newsletters were sent out highlighting good news stories from around the region – particularly from individual firms who have survived and thrived by exploring new opportunities brought about by the pandemic.
Moving forward digitally
Following the success of working virtually, the region is considering setting up sub-committees based on specialist topics - these would meet regularly for discussions via Zoom, and work on collective solutions to particular pain points.
CPAAI Accru
Greg Winnett provided a brief introduction to CPAAI Accru, highlighting their shared values of building both personal friendships and professional connections throughout the world, saying, “We’re starting to see some great benefits already (following the merger) and are building great relationships.”
Greg concluded by pointing out that you get as much out of membership as you put in, and strongly encouraged members to engage and get involved in the various forums on offer and make full use of the resources available to them through their MGI Worldwide CPAAI membership. He added that, as soon as feasible, his firm would be actively encouraging its people to visit other member firms and that they are always happy to host people at their Accru Melbourne premises.
