MGI Worldwide retains position as a top-20 global accountancy network in Europe

The latest International Accounting Bulletin has again placed MGI Worldwide in the top-20 international accounting associations in Europe, as we continue to grow in the region and around the globe.

MGI Worldwide is proud to have placed in the top-20 accounting networks in Europe (including UK & Ireland), according to the most recent February 2019 release of the International Accounting Bulletin (IAB). We are proud to have placed so highly, showing once again the strength of our member firms despite an uncertain economic environment.

Our member firms managed to take in a total of $263.2 million over the last year. This represents growth of eight per cent compared to the previous 12 months, which is an excellent performance. In total, 2412 people were employed by MGI Worldwide accountancy network members in this period.

This is a considerable achievement in the current European economic climate, which is mired with uncertainty. While Brexit has undoubtedly been the main topic of concern, our European members have also had to deal with unrest in France and far-right governments in Poland and Hungary causing financial unpredictability.

Regulators have also been looking towards making changes in the audit accounting sector, thanks in part to scandals from the likes of BHS, Carillion and Patisserie Valerie. Clive Bennett, MGI Worldwide’s CEO, was asked to comment on this issue by the IAB.

“[These scandals] may not affect the middle private market as much as the listed market,” he said, “but firms are preparing for change nevertheless. Regulatory action in the UK may presage change more widely, questioning the function and position of audit.
