Highlights from the 2025 Talent Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal

The 9th MGI Worldwide Talent Meeting, hosted by MGI Europe and MGI UK & Ireland regions, took place in the vibrant city of Lisbon, Portugal, on 20-21 February.

The event saw a fantastic turnout, with over 110 delegates from 21 countries coming together to learn, connect, and grow within the MGI global network.

Dynamic and engaging programme

The event was organised by Regional Director for MGI Europe, Zoltan Paksy, and Regional Coordinator for UK & Ireland, Rachel Pugh.

Rachel comments:
"There was such great energy in the group! The meeting provided an excellent platform for attendees to engage with new and familiar faces, starting with a lively icebreaker networking session on the Thursday night, over dinner. We are thrilled with how it went and feedback has been really positive from delegates!"

The following morning, attendees were treated to insightful presentations beginning with Sarah Jones who delivered a session on Understanding Yourself to Understand Others, which explored DISC personality profiles and strategies for effective communication.

"Our 9th Talent Meeting was a fantastic way to kick-start our 2025 MGI events calendar. With the International Committee joining, it was a chance to showcase the concept to other regions. This meeting is all about giving new talents the chance to connect, learn, and build their networks - while having fun along the way! Seeing so many stay on to explore Lisbon with their teams made it even more special."

Jim Simpson, CEO at ZipTech Services, then spoke about AI in Accountancy, where he discussed how artificial intelligence is transforming the profession and offered valuable tips on how to integrate AI into everyday practices.

Shadow IC members Ana Ebner, representing Europe, and Sophie Woodburn representing UK & Ireland, also gave a short presentation introducing the Shadow IC, a relatively recent addition to the organisation, aimed at incorporating the perspectives of the next generation of talent into the decision-making process.

In the afternoon, attendees broke into specialised discussion groups, delving into key topics such as Audit, Accounting, Tax, Digitalisation, and Marketing. Additional discussions with Sarah and Jim provided further opportunities to discuss the topics covered that morning before closing the day with group reflections.
