About East Malaysia
East Malaysia, comprising the states of Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo, boasts a diverse and vibrant economy. Rich in natural resources, it is a significant producer of oil, gas, timber, and palm oil, which form the backbone of its economy. The region's strategic location and abundant natural resources have attracted substantial investment in the energy and agricultural sectors.
Additionally, tourism is growing, driven by East Malaysia's cultural heritage and biodiverse rainforests. With ongoing infrastructure developments, including the planning of Nusantara, the new capital located in East Kalimantan, the region is about to take on greater importance in the region. Government incentives further boost business opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy, ecotourism, agro-industry, and manufacturing, making East Malaysia an increasingly attractive destination for investors and entrepreneurs.
