Asia fly the flag for MGI
MGI firms from across Asia were key contributors to the Asia Tax event in Singapore earlier this month. MGI Asia sponsored the event for a second straight year, with nine member firms in attendance at the event organised by International Tax Review. The forum, which was held on May 7th and 8th, attracted around 120 tax professionals from around the region.

Sessions, workshops and speeches were held along the theme of Dealing with a New International Tax Environment. Key topics included areas such as transfer pricing, China’s VAT reforms, indirect tax, dispute resolution and anti avoidance. Country specific sessions on China, Hong Kong, Korea and India were also held.
MGI Asia sponsored the session on transfer pricing, which looked at how developments in related party transactions will affect companies.
Moderating the event was Mr Pradeep Dinodia from Indian MGI member S R Dinodia. Mr Dickson Leung from LehmanBrown was one of the speakers. Other speakers included Aashish Poddar of Piramal Enterprises, Sam Sim of Standard Chartered, and Andrea Tolley from Schneider Electric.
Jeenendra Bhandari from Indian MGI member MGB & Co spoke on the session on India: What a new national government will mean for tax and taxpayers.
MGI Asia was well represented by its members at the conference, with delegates coming from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, China & India.International Committee member for AsiaPallavi Dinodia from S R Dinodia was among the attendees.
Also flying the flag were Imran Menon (MGI Menon), Sharifah Al Jeffri (AlJeffri Dean), Kunasunderi Muthukkumar (MGI N Rajan), Rodrigo Gatmaitan (Gatmaitan & Associates) and Audrey Danasamy (MGI Asia).
The event saw MGI promote its thought leadership on tax, with tax updates for nine different jurisdictions handed out to delegates at the Asia Tax Forum.
