UK & Ireland Academy

MGI UK & Ireland region is pleased to be able to offer this academy programme to anyone in a management role within their member firms. The overall learning objective of the Development Academy is to give delegates the knowledge, skills and confidence to better manage themselves, other people and clients.

The current programme consists of ten elements over approximately two years as follows:

  • Four one-day in-room workshops
  • Four half-day online workshops
  • Two 90-minute online action review sessions

The workshops comprise a mixture of lectures, practical examples, exercises and group discussion. There is also a focus on individual action planning to maximise the transfer of learning from classroom to client work.

The Development Academy has been designed to be modular, so each workshop is standalone; however, most delegates attend the workshops in the order set out below.

"I thoroughly enjoyed attending the MGI UK & Ireland Development Academy, completing all 8 components has helped me develop into a Senior Manager at Milsted Langdon.

Although the course is primarily designed for those just entering management level roles within practice, it is also very useful for those already in a management position, as I was when I started the academy. Whilst competent in my role, I believe there is always room for improvement, and the academy helped me achieve these improvements.

I can’t state one particular element that stands out in helping me in my role, simply because there’s numerous ones that have – from learning new and consolidating existing techniques in managing myself and others, new ideas of networking and negotiating and not forgetting everyone’s favourite, pitch and presentation skills - it’s all helped me become a better manager.

And last but by no means least, the opportunity to meet fellow professionals from other MGI firms across UK & Ireland, share stories over dinner and drinks, effectively forming our own network of contacts is invaluable."

“Having recently completed the full programme, I would strongly recommend the Academy Programme.

In addition to the official training material, training and support exercises, I found the opportunity to meet and trade ideas and strategies with peers from other MGI firms to be invaluable.”
